Loop Shoe Portrait No. 1
$75 graphite and watercolor on paper, 8 x 10 inches framed--Sold!--
As babies, both Charlotte and Ella wore this little tennis shoe.. When they are being silly, we call them “loopy,” and them “Loops.” Since it was the first “shoe portrait” I painted to raise money for “the girls” I just had to call it “Loop Shoe Portrait No. 1.”

Charlotte (One Toe Over the Line)
$150 acrylic on gallery frame canvas, 10 x 10 inches
I met Charlotte when she was five. She called to me across the street from the porch of her house: “Hi!”
“Hi” I called back. She didn’t stop talking to me from across the street until they moved, in June of 2007.
Charlotte is vibrant and outgoing. She always has an idea… pushes the edges… presses for more…always seems to have just one toe a little over the line. So when she gave me her used sneakers to paint to raise money for “the girls,” I also had to incorporate that aspect of her personality into the portrait.

Eliza Runs in These
$125 Acrylic on oval canvas, 9 by 12 inches
I painted a mural for Eliza on her bedroom wall. Although she was very quiet, in fact shy, and unassuming, she definitely knew what she wanted: a deer, a rabbit, a fox, a fir tree.
When I asked her mother if Eliza might have a special pair of running shoes for me to paint, Mary Kay showed up at my door with a well-worn pair of children’s cowgirl boots and said, “Eliza wants you to paint these. She’s got a new pair, because the school was worried about how dangerous these have become, the soles worn out and slippery, but she always runs in cowgirl boots, so….she wants you to paint these!”
No problem. Eliza runs in these.

Bruno's Designer Italian First Walkers
$150 Acrylic on gallery frame canvas, 9 by 12 inches--Sold!--
Bruno is just about the sweetest little boy on the face of the earth. He has curly hair, dimples, and charm, as they say, up the wazoo. His aunt was so taken by him when he was a baby that, while she was in Italy, she bought him an expensive pair of Italian designer baby shoes. I think this portends the future. The girls aren’t going to stand a chance. I don’t know anyone, even now, who does.

One Paws2, Ella\'s Favorite Shoe
$100 acrylic on canvas, 7 by 5 inches (9 by 7 inches framed)
--Sold!--
Ella is Charlotte’s baby sister. We met her the day she came home from the hospital. We had her first and second birthday parties at our house and she started visiting us regularly, with Charlotte, when she was three.
Sometimes I would pick her up from her Montessori school up the street. She never knew I was coming because it was only in an emergency for her folks, but the look of thrilled surprise and the joyful “Hi, Pat!” always made me laugh. It was as if a happy joke had been played on her. She is definitely a girl with a good sense of humor. She loves pink and wanted me to paint her favorite Paws2 shoes.

Hannah, Some Girls Gotta Skate
$150 oil on canvasboard, 5 x 7 inches (8 x 10 inches framed)
Hannah is our nephew Andy's 8-year-old daughter. To her mother Holly's astonishment, she plays ice hockey! We don't know her very well, but from the little time we have had the opportunity to spend with her, it's clear she's a pistol and would be a formidable opponent on the ice. She has a huge amount of energy. We're just happy that girls get to do that, play ice hockey, these days
